About Marya Ashworth

Marya Ashworth grew up on a ranch in the San Francisco Bay Area, and her love for horses, dog, cats and other animals began there. Marya's love for reading and writing came at a very early age. She heard wonderful, original fairy tales from her mother and grandmother, and those stories were the inspiration for her first book. After college at UC Berkeley, Marya went to work in the movie business, working for Warner Bros. and others. Later, she worked in advertising for the movies and eventually, advertising and promotions for publishers, bookstores and the music business. Until recently, she worked in marketing for a university press. Marya is also a jazz singer and frequently performs at local venues. She lives in the San Francisco area with her husband and three dogs.
